Matthew van Heerden (14), ‘n gr. 8-leerling aan Somerset College in Somerset-Wes, Wes-Kaap, is Woensdag 10 Mei 2023 10:40 die oggend oorlede.
Guyck van Heerden, Matthew se pa, het die aankondiging van sy seun se afsterwe weens siekte op sy Facebook-blad gedeel.
Mathhew het aan diabetes-komplikasies gesterf.
Die seun. wat op 18 April 14 jaar oud geword het, het in ‘n diabetiese koma gegaan en kon ten spyte van pogings, nie gered word nie.
Hy laat sy pa Guyck, ma Lucy en broer Michael agter.

Dear Friends and Family, we are incredibly sad to inform you all of the death, due to diabetic complications, of our beloved son, Matthew van Heerden at 10:40 this morning. We are incredibly grateful for the phone calls, messages and emails of support received over the past three days while the Dr’s did everything they could to save him. He was such a loving, funny, cheeky and kind young man and we will miss him forever. We are sure those of you who met and knew him will feel the same. All of our love, Guyck, Lucy and Michael.

It is with a very heavy heart that our Somerset College family paid tribute to Matthew van Heerden this morning. Matthew, a Grade 8 student, passed away on Wednesday due to a sudden illness.
We remember Matthew’s parents, Guyck and Lucy, his brother Michael, and the rest of his family and hold them in our prayers at this painful time.
