Optog in Tshwane oor beurtkrag en hoë tariewe

Die Tshwane-metropolisiedepartement het ‘n verklaring uitgereik dat daar vroeër vandag ‘n optog in die Tshwane-middestad plaasgevind het teen langdurige beurtkrag en die verhoging van 18.65% in elektrisiteitstariewe wat deur NERSA aan Eskom goedgekeur is.

Die optog van “Not In My Name International” het by Kerkplein in Pretoria-Sentraal ‘n aanvang neem.

STREETS THAT WILL BE AFFECTED BY A MARCH TOMORROW FRIDAY, 20 JANUARY 2023 IN THE PRETORIA CBD.

Take note that there will be a march tomorrow, 20 January 2023 by Not In My Name International.

Purpose: They will be marching against long hours of ongoing loadshedding and the 18.65% tariff hike granted to Eskom by National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA).

The marchers will gather from 08:30 at Church Square, Pretoria Central.

The route of the march is as follows:

From Church Square marchers they will join Paul Kruger Street and turn right onto Madiba Street and proceed straight until they reach NERSA offices at 526 Madiba Street, and to Union Buildings, Arcadia, Pretoria.

From NERSA they will proceed on Madiba Street to march to Union Buildings.

The following intersections will be affected:

  • Paul Kruger Street
  • Madiba Street
  • Thabo Sehume Street
  • Lillian Ngoyi Street
  • Sisulu Street
  • Du Toit Street
  • Nelson Mandela Drive
  • Steve Biko Road
  • Hamilton Street
  • Government Avenue

They are expected to disperse from NERSA at 11:00 and from the Union Buildings at 12:30.

Tshwane Metro Police officers will be deployed to monitor march and all affected streets. Motorists are advised to avoid affected streets and use alternative routes such as:

  • Nana Sita Street
  • Francis Baard Street
  • Park Street
  • Stanza Bopape Street
  • Struben Street
  • Edmond Street
