Six suspects were arrested after a police officer was shot and killed during a shootout with 15 suspects at a guesthouse in Mpumalanga on Friday. The police confiscated four cars and eight firearms from the scene.
Selvy Mohlala, the police spokesperson said the 37-year-old police officer was shot and killed on Friday around 11 am when the Kabokweni police were following information on where the 15 suspects who were planning a robbery were. The suspects were in a guesthouse planning a robbery and once they noticed the arrival of the police they tried to flee and opened fire at the police.
A gunfight ensued and the Sergeant was shot in the process and was rushed to hospital. He was sadly declared dead upon arrival, said Mohlala. The deceased officer has been identified as Enock Themba Nsimba, who was stationed at Kobokweni Visible Policing Unit.

Mohlala said police launched a manhunt for the 15 suspects and were able to make six arrests with a total of eight firearms which includes an AK-47, two rifles and two pistols with ammunition being confiscated. One suspect was injured during the crossfire, and he is receiving medical treatment.
The six suspects will be appearing at the Kabokweni Magistrates Court on Monday, 28 March 2022, facing charges of murder, unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
