Western Cape police have arrested a man in connection with the brutal mass murder in Khayelitsha seven days ago. The police announced a breakthrough in one of the mass killings.
Brigadier Novela Potelwa, the provincial police said a 35-year-old man was arrested on Saturday in connection with the fatal shooting which left six people dead at the Enkanini informal settlement in Khayelitsha, Cape Town.

The suspect was wanted by the police for the brutal murder of four men and two women. The six victims who are aged between 18 and 27 were allegedly shot and killed by three suspects at 16:10 along Lindela Road, on 20 March 2022. This fatal shooting followed the murder of five people who were shot and killed in the neighbouring Endlovini informal settlement on March 14.
“The 35-year-old man has been charged with murder and is expected to appear at the Khayelitsha magistrates court on Monday,” said Potelwa. “As the investigation gains momentum, the detectives assigned to the case have their sights set on specific leads, with more arrests imminent.”
Potelwa reported on the matter previously saying that police were called to the scene where a mass shooting had taken place. When the police arrived, they found five bodies of people lying not far from each other. “The sixth person died on arrival of at the medical facility,” said Potwela.
