Following their 1-1 stalemate with Algeria on Wednesday night, 23 Feburary, Banyana Banyana have qualified for the African Women Cup of Nations as they won 3-1 on aggregate score.
It’s Linda Motlhalo who found the back of the net for Banyana in the 61st minute to cancel Algeria’s Sylia Koui lead that was scored before halftime.

The final qualifying stage was played over two legs and South Africa won the first leg 2-0 at home where Hilda Magaia and Thembi Kgatlana were the ones who tapped the net in the first match.
The last time Desiree Ellis’s ladies were in AWCON was in 2018 where they reached the final, but were overpowered in the penalty shootout by Nigeria.

Banyana have been the runners up five times in AWCON but never won the cup and will have a chance when they fight to claim the title in Morocco on 2 July up until 23 July this year.
