Aartsbiskop Desmond Tutu, wat op die ouderdom van 90 in Kaapstad oorlede is, was regoor die wêreld bekend.
Desmond Mpilo Tutu was ‘n Suid-Afrikaanse Anglikaanse aartsbiskop en teoloog en was bekend vir sy werk as anti-apartheid- en menseregte-aktivis. Hy was die biskop van Johannesburg van 1985 tot 1986 en toe die aartsbiskop van Kaapstad van 1986 tot 1996. Hy was die eerste swart Suid-Afrikaner in dié posisie.
Hy was ‘n man met sterk geloof en oortuiging, maar ook van woorde. Hy het nie geskroom om humor en woede te gebruik om sy waardes én verontwaardiging uit te druk nie.
