Jané Botha (17) ‘n NSRI-bemanningslid by Stasie 23, het onlangs ‘n fondsinsamelingsprojek aangepak waartydens sy 74 km in 24 uur geswem het. Met hierdie grootse poging het sy geld ingesamel vir die NSRI-Wildernis, wat haar na aan die hart lê.
Sedertdien het sy donasies van meer as R40 000 ontvang deur die projek, wat sy so onbaatsugtig aangepak het.
Die jong meisie het ‘n jaar en ‘n half gelede by die NSRI aangesluit. Die NSRI het haar as merkwaardig beskryf en vir die uitmuntende prestasie geprys wat haar toewyding en vasberadenheid wys.

My story:
Over a year and a half ago I joined station 23 as trainee crew, knowing little of how much that decision would change my life forever.
On that day I found my home away from home, from then on I have made endless friendships and have met the most extraordinary mentors that I’m so glad to now call family.
Being a part of NSRI Sea Rescue has completely changed me as an individual. It has taught me the value of teamwork and the power of unity. Each member of the crew brings a unique set of skills and experiences, and together, we form an unstoppable force. Through my journey with the NSRI, I have gained resilience, sharpened my teamwork skills and discovered the immense value of community and service.
Every day, I witness firsthand, the extraordinary bravery and unwavering commitment of the team in saving lives at sea. It is in these moments that I witness ordinary people doing extraordinary things, displaying acts of bravery, selflessness, and compassion. In a world often clouded with negativity, the NSRI serves as a shining example of the astounding influence that a single organization can have on others.
