170 years sentence for a gangster

Alfriedo Blake was incarcerated for a lengthy period of time – 170 years sentence for his criminal activities on Tuesday, 12 April.

Col. Andrè Traut, police spokesperson says in 2019 they registered a project on the Mobster gang grouping, a criminal entity that was mostly responsible for gang activities in the Mfuleni and Kleinvlei areas.

This project led to the arrest of Blake in the same year.

“This criminal gang also committed various criminal activities which included inter alia murders, attempted murders, illegal possession of firearms, dealing in drugs, intimidation, and extortion,” Traut said.

On 25 February 2020, an operation was conducted by the unit which resulted in the arrest of 16 members of this notorious gang, including the leader and his lieutenants.

The accused was brought before the court with a watertight case against him.

Blake was convicted in the Western Cape High Court on 14 counts: three murder charges, two attempted murders, conspiracy to commit murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and aggravated robbery.
