Members of Operation Dudula say the arrest of their leader Nhlanhla ‘Lux’ Dlamini is politically motivated. Dlamini was arrested on Thursday in Parktown after his interview with Khaya FM in connection with a housebreaking case which was opened by Victor Ramerafe, 59, from Dobsonville.
Ramerafe, who is known to be a supporter of the Economic Freedom Fighters, was accompanied by EFF supporters to open a case of house breaking against Dlamini, the leader of Operation Dudula on Wednesday. Ramerafe’s house was ransacked after it was learned he allegedly sold nyaope which is a drug that causes havoc among the youth in the townships. Sinawo Tambo, the EFF spokesperson, said they were giving the police seven days to arrest Nhalnhla Lux for housebreaking and theft.

Dlamini, who faces charges of malicious damage to property, theft and burglary, was not seen at the Roodepoort Magistrate’s court when his case was called. This upset his supporters who feel grieved that he was the only one arrested while he was not alone when the incident happened at Ramerafe’s house.
“We are sick and tired of all these illegal immigrants in our country, we are suffocating,” said Sello Mahibille, the leader of Operation Dudula in Tshwane. Tambo said the EFF will not comment on the matter as it wants the law to take its course. Nhlanhla Lux is expected to apply for bail at the Roodepoort Magistrate’s court on Monday. His legal team said he was in high spirits as he remained in police custody.
