A 36-year-old man from KwaZulu-Natal who was caught by his wife raping their 9-year-old daughter in Lindelani, Weenen, was found guilty of raping his biological daughter for over two years and was handed double life sentences in the Estcourt Regional Court on Thursday.
Natasha Kara, the National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson, said the 36-year-old father, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the daughter, had been raping his daughter for two years. The man who was found guilty of raping his daughter appeared in court for sentencing on Thursday.
He was sentenced with double life sentences for raping his biological child on numerous occasions from 2017 to 2019. Kara said while raping the daughter in October 2020, his wife walked in and caught him naked in the room with their daughter. She immediately called the police, and the man was arrested but denied the rape allegations against him.

In the aggravation of sentence, Regional Court Prosecutor Nokulunga Ngcobo gave the court a statement from the victim, which details the amount of impact the rape has caused on the life of the little child. “In her statement, which was facilitated by Court Preparation Officer Sibusiso Ntombela, the child said that she wishes she could be reborn because she cannot turn her life around after her traumatic experience.
“She said she was deeply hurt by her father’s actions, but did not tell anyone about it as he threatened to kill her if she did. “The National Prosecuting Authority welcomes this sentence. We hope sentences of this nature will have the necessary deterrent effective on like-minded people,” Kara said.
