Barrington Patterson, 56, a very well-known martial arts legend, has sadly passed away after suffering a heart attack at his home. The news of Patterson’s passing was shared by his wife Tracy on social media on Tuesday morning (March 22).
She wrote on Twitter, “At 6 a.m. this morning my beloved husband had a massive heart attack. West Midlands Ambulance Service worked for an hour trying to save him.
Unfortunately it wasn’t to be, our hearts are broken.”
Within minutes after the news of Patterson’s passing broke, messages of condolences and trinbutes poured in. Patterson was born and raised in Birmingham and was a proud supporter of Birmingham City. He became associated with the team’s hooligan organisation known as the Zulus.

He became famous in Coventry when he was running the door of some of the city’s toughest nightclubs back in the 80’s and 90’s. His prominence grew so much that Danny Dyer featured him in his Deadliest Men series back in 2008.
More recently he has been working hard to tackle crime and drugs in the West Midlands, using his martial arts stills in schools and passing his wisdom on. Despite his tough person, during the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, he delivered food parcels to the most vulnerable. He was very well known for looking after those who were homeless and needy.
