Sky Guide for 2022

Sky Guide Africa South 2002 is a practical resource for astronomers – be they novice, amateur or professional Struik Nature together with the Astronomical Society of Southern Africa (ASSA) publish this annual guide. The society celebrates its centenary this year. Sky Guide Africa South 2022 was cleverly redesigned to give it a fresh look and make it even more accessible to users.

Compiled by a team of specialists, the Sky Guide for 2022 is a soft cover book consisting of 136 pages. It contains lots of information about celestial bodies such as the Sun, Moon, planets, comets, meteors and stars. I love the fact that diagrams and photos support the text and make the reader experience so much more enjoyable. There are clearly presented star charts that help users to identify stars and constellations in the southern Africas night skies. I enjoyed the sections on professional observatories in South Africa on pages 106-107.

Prof. Tenée C. Kraan-Korteweg, professor emeritus of astronomy at UCT, writes: “This lightweight small books fits into any purse or backpack wherewer you go. You can glean more with one quick glance than from browsing the internet.”

If, among other things, you are keen to learn more about the movements of the planets, the occurences of eclipses, and the dates of meteor showers, you will enjoy working your way through the concise Sky Guide for 2022. It contains lots of practical tips, clear instructions on how to use the guide, and a wealth of information. This guide will fast become a favourite book to keep at hand when you go stargazing.
