Die Nasionale Instituut vir Oordraagbare Siektes sê tifus is nie in ons kraanwater nie.
Sedert uitbrekings van tifus oor die laaste paar maande in die Wes-Kaap, Noordwes en Gauteng geregistreer is, is mense oortuig dat kraanwater in Suid-Afrika die skuld moet kry.
“Daar is geen bewyse dat onlangse gevalle van tifuskoors met besmette munisipale water in enige deel van die land verbind word nie, en daar is geen bewyse dat die bakterieë wat maagkoors veroorsaak onlangs in munisipale waterbronne oral in die land geïdentifiseer is nie,” lui ‘n verklaring.
