Orlando Pirates are the closest team to the log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns on the DStv Premiership table, however, there’s a huge 17 points gap between the two.
The Buccaneers haven’t lifted a silverware since 2020 when they won MTN 8 trophy and were hoping to contend for the league title as they hope to end the drought.
According to Soccer Laduma, Pirates co-coach Mandla Ncikazi has admitted that Masandawana have already won the league title taking into account the gap they’ve opened and the outstanding games.
“We just have to focus on ourselves and try and gather as much points as possible and get Pirates to the right level, try and play the type of football that is related to the club,” Ncikazi.
“I know the gap is too big between us and [Mamelodi] Sundowns, but we just have to focus on ourselves.
“It is only Sundowns who can take the cup out of their cabinet for competition – but I think the cup is already in their cabinet,” Ncikazi added.
The next match for Buccaneers will see them taking on Al-Ittihad in the CAF Confederation Cup in Libya on Sunday.
