Euthanasia is now in Germany only for people who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 or have recovered from the disease.
Euthanasia and the associated preparations require “human proximity”, which is a prerequisite and breeding ground for the transmission of coronavirus.
This is according to a statement from the German Euthanasia Association (Verein Sterbehilfe), which stated that it will now only help those who have been vaccinated or recovered from the disease.
The Euthanasia Association said in a statement posted on its website that both euthanasia and the preparation for euthanasia require human closeness.

Germany’s acting chancellor, Angela Merkel, along with the country’s 16 state prime ministers, agreed last week on various measures to combat the pandemic. It was after the meeting that the requirements that people should be vaccinated or recovered from the disease were published. The leaders stressed the importance of COVID-19 vaccination for all hospital and nursing staff. They also decided to impose “2G” restrictions on the unvaccinated in areas where a certain hospitalization rate is exceeded. “2G” refers to a system that only allows free movement for recreational activities for people who have been vaccinated or recovered from the virus.
