Several rockets have been fired at Kabul airport but were somehow stopped before reaching their target. It is unclear who fired the rockets but the US has warned that more attacks were likely.
The Islamic State group (rivals of the Taliban) currently poses the biggest threat to the withdrawal after carrying out the suicide bomb attack at the airport last week that claimed over a 100 lives, including 13 US troops.
Biden has warned more attacks were highly likely and that the US had carried out an air strike on Sunday night in Kabul on an explosives-laden vehicle. This strike was followed by the sound of rockets being launched across Kabul on Monday. People living near the airport said that they heard the sounds of the missile defensive system being activated.
Smoke could be seen rising near the airport.
