A total of at least ten people, including six Chinese nationals and two Pakistani soldiers, were killed in an explosion that destroyed a bus on Wednesday in Pakistan.

A senior government official stated that, “The bus plunged into a deep ravine after the blast and caused heavy losses. One engineer and one soldier are missing. The rescue operation is launched and the entire government machinery has been mobilised to rescue the injured by air ambulance.”

According to a senior administrative officer the bus was carrying more than 30 engineers to the site of the Dasu dam in Upper Kohistan.

The exact cause of the explosion is unknown, but it is possible that it could have been due to a bomb, either on the roadside or in the bus itself.

The death toll could rise, with 36 people having been injured in the blast.
