Brig. Nicky Mills, provinsiale hoof van die GKS-polisie-eenheid, verwelkom die 20 jaar gevangenisstraf wat op 28 Augustus 2020 aan die Bothitong-verkragter opgelê is.
Die slagoffer was 15 jaar oud toe die misdaad gepleeg is.

NC:BOTHITONG RAPIST SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS
The Provincial Head of FCS, Brig Nicky Mills welcomed the 20 years prison sentence handed down to the Bothitong rapist on
28 August 2020.
The victim was 15 years old when the crime was committed.
It was reported that on 11 January 2015 at approximately 04:00 the victim was asleep in her bedroom in Gakhoe village when the accused entered through the window, threatened her with a knife and raped her. The accused was arrested 3 days later and appeared in court and was granted R 1000 bail. The case was remanded several times for almost 5 yrs for different reasons.
The case was finalized on 28 August 2020 and the accused Tshepo Thabang Manyeke, 33 years old was found guilty of rape and sentenced on the same day to
20 years imprisonment.
He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm and his name was recorded in the the Sexual Offences Register.
Sgt Freddie Moamogwa attached to the Provincial SECI Unit finalised the investigation and who has since been transferred to Noupoort was commended by his previous commander, Lt Col Pieter Benade for the meticulous investigation which resulted in the 20 year prison sentence handed down.
