Woolworths het Donderdag op sosiale media hulle “Pride month”-veldtog aangekondig. Hulle het verduidelik wat hulle alles vir die LGBT-gemeenskap doen en hulle nuwe reeks produkte (klere, handsakke, juwele) aangekondig.
Terwyl sommige sosialemediagebruikers hulle ondersteuning vir die veldtog uitgespreek het, het baie van hulle kliënte hulle as woke gekritiseer en gesê kopers moet Woolworths boikot.
Talle sosialemediagebruikers wat die winkelreus gewaarsku dat die veldtog kan skeefloop soos met DisChem en Target gebeur het. Target het in 10 dae meer as R197 m verloor na mense opgehou het om hulle te ondersteun toe hulle LGBT-klere, -skryfbehoeftes en -boeke vir kinders bemark het.
Diegene wat Woolworths gekritiseer het, is deur die winkelgroep geblok, terwyl dié wat hulle ondersteun ‘n antwoord gekry het.
