“Lekker om jou kind werk toe te vat, nè?” Dit was meeste mense se reaksie sowat ‘n maand gelede toe dié foto’s van ‘n verkeersbeampte op sosiale media verskyn het.
Andisiswe Gxabuz, die verkeersbeampte wat onder kritiek en kommentaar deurgeloop het, het egter die baba op haar rug getroos en gesus nadat sy ma in ‘n motorongeluk was.
Wouter de Vos, ‘n lid van die Stad Kaapstad se portefeuljekomittee, sê hy kon nie die saak daar laat nie.
“Ek moes gaan krap om die volle waarheid uit te vind,” sê De Vos op sosiale media.
“The baby’s mommy was injured in a car accident, and was trapped inside the vehicle.
This wonderful officer, Andisiswe Gxabuza, took it upon herself to take personal care of this precious baby under difficult and traumatic circumstances.
Whilst continuing with her duties on the accident scene.
This is EXACTLY the type of dedication and commitment that the most amazing of officers will display.
This is the personification of our Cape Town as a caring city.
This morning our City of Cape Town Safety and Security Portfolio Committee ensured that Officer Gxabuza received the recognition and respect due to her for this conduct.
