Despite a defeat that Mamelodi Sundowns suffered to Pedro De Luanda on Saturday in the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-final, Rulani Mokwena believes they will progress to the next stage.

Many felt that the Angolan side earned a well-deserved victory with Masandawana below par on the day.

“We try to win to win every match but we lost the right match that gives us many lessons,” Mokwena said after the game.

“It reminds us that we are not invincible but in a very humble way we accept the lesson and move on.

“Now it’s time to recover the team, get the body back. Watch the game over again, do the corrections and prepare for the second leg, but we’ll be in the semi-finals,” Rulani added.

Sundowns unexpectedly lost the match as they had won five of their six games in the group stages prior to the quarter-finals.

They have all to play in the return leg that will take place on the upcoming Saturday at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.
