A man was shot and killed, and another woman was injured in an altercation between members of Operation Dudula and members of an informal settlement in Kliptown, Soweto.
According to Brigadier Brenda Muridili, the police spokesperson it is alleged that at about 4.30pm a group of people, allegedly residents of Pimville with Operation Dudula members, marched to Chicken Farm informal settlement in Kliptown. “Pimville residents complained about theft of electricity cables.”

The march turned violent when an altercation broke out between members of Operation Dudula and Kliptown residents who were accused of cable theft. Shots were fired in the violent confrontation and one person was killed in the confrontation with another woman being injured after being shot in the leg.
Mudirili denies claims that Nhlanhla ‘Lux’ Dlamini was shot and injured in the violent confrontation in Kliptown. The woman who was shot in the leg opened a criminal case at the police station, but it is not clear on which side the woman belonged. It is alleged that four more people were taken to hospital to receive treatment after the confrontation. “We are tracing the injured people. The victims are reported to be South Africans,” said Mudirili.
