Two Palestinian women were shot and killed in separate incidents by Israeli soldiers, with one of the women alleged to have been unarmed. Violent confrontations have been taking place in Israel and in the occupied West Bank on Sunday. This is the latest violence which has broken out during the month of Ramadan.
According to the Palestinian health ministry, a Palestinian woman was shot and killed in the city of Bethlehem on Sunday. The woman in her 40’s died from massive blood loss after she had been shot by an Israeli soldier. The woman was identified as Ghada Ibrahim Sabatien, a mother of six who happened to be a widow.

Israeli troops said they first shot in the air, but the woman approached them near the southern town of Husan and that is when they shot her in her lower body which resulted in massive blood loss and death, . No weapon was found on the body of the woman. In a separate incident in the city of Hebron, a Palestinian woman stabbed an Israeli police officer leaving him slightly wounded before she was shot dead by the Israeli forces, according to the Israeli police.
Israeli soldiers have been on high alert following the attacks launched by three men of the Israeli Arab minority and two Palestinians from the West Bank who killed 14 people in Israel since the end of March. More than 20 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli troops since the beginning of January.
