Man arrested for kidnapping and murdering people suspected of burglary

Four people who were suspected of burglary were kidnapped and assaulted at Kanyamazane on 6 April 2022.

Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, police spokesperson, says two bodies of the victims were found at Kanyamazane on 9 April 2022.

One is still missing while another one managed to escape with injuries after being assaulted. His family took him for medical treatment.

According to the report, the burglary case for which the victims are suspected was reported. Household items to the estimated value of about R 11 000 were stolen.

The suspect (who kidnapped the victims) is expected to appear before the court soon, facing two counts of murder. More charges may be added as the investigation proceed.

Meanwhile the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lt. General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, has warned people not to take the law into their own hands. “People should learn to allow the wheels of justice to turn whenever they have complaints. It has been proven several times that the law does punish the wrongdoers, especially with the convictions and sentences that we continuously communicate” said the Lt. General.
