Metro FM DJ, Dineo Ranaka has opened up about what she has learnt about depression and how people can tell when they are suffering from it.
Speaking to Mac G on Podcast and Chill, Ranaka said you must talk about your issues to people who care about you.

“Please talk to your people when you’re not okay, particularly If you’re employed and you have bosses who care,” said Ranaka.
“I have questioned myself whether I’m okay or I’m not okay, I’ve healed from certain pains, or I’ve not healed from certain pains, or if I’ve done enough work to be okay “
“I’ve started understanding depression deeper.”
“The opposite of depression is not happiness. So depression, in essence, is not sadness.”
“Depression is the lack and the loss of vitality. Vitality is your enthusiasm for life and living, your excitement about life.”

“Imagine depression as if you were poured with acid on your brain. Imagine this acid is eating your brain and vitality very very slowly.”
The best way to overcome depression would be to respond early in seeking professional help.
