“No one can stop me if I’m with the community… this is the time that we live and die for our people.” These are the words from Nhlanhla Lux Dlamini the leader of Operation Dudula as he addressed his followers after being granted R1500 bail at the Roodepoort Magistrates Court on Monday.
A large crowd of Operation Dudula members gathered to support their leader who was arrested last week Thursday in Parktown Johannesburg shortly after his meeting with Khaya FM. Dlamini stands accused of leading Operation Dudula members to Victor Ramerafe’s house who was allegedly accused of selling drugs by his neighbours. In the presence of the police the house was allegedly ransacked.

The group was not able to find any drugs and the EFF condemned the move and accompanied its member Ramerafe to open a case at Dobsonville police station. Dlamini was arrested and the grieved member of the movement questioned why he was the only one arrested when there were many more people inside the property.
When addressing his supporters outside the Roodepoort Magistrates court on Monday after being granted bail Dlamini blamed the EFF for orchestrating his arrest. He however condemned some the Operation Dudula members who carried a coffin with Julius Malema’s face on it saying the movement must lead its foes.
Dlamini said “Even the very people who got us to this point, I don’t want to call them by name because I see they are trending and have no plan, but even then, they must benefit from our leadership.” You don’t need to kill people when they are already dying, said Dlamini.
Ike Khumalo, Dlamini’s lawyer said “We are happy that he has been released. He was not supposed to be arrested. He is always accompanied by the police wherever he is conducting his duties. How do you accuse him of trespassing when he is always in the company of police?” said Khumalo.
