A pregnant woman who was captured as she was carried out on a stretcher after Russian forces bombed a maternity hospital has died with her unborn child, The Associated Press reported. A Russian airstrike hit a maternity hospital in Mariupol last week Wednesday killing three people.
The pregnant woman was carried out of the hospital where she was expected to give birth and moved to a different hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital the baby was born by caesarean section, but there was no sign of life.

Timur Marin, the surgeon, told the press that the woman’s pelvis was crushed, and her hip was detached. While the paramedics were trying to save the woman’s life after finding that the child had died, the woman shouted, “Kill me now!”. Paramedics tried to resuscitate the woman after realizing that the child was stillborn, but thirty minutes later the patient succumbed to her injuries.
The woman’s identity is unknown as the doctor’s did not get a chance to find out her name before her husband and her father took away her body. The doctors said that they were just grateful that she was not discovered under the rubble after the bomb blast. The other two pregnant women who were also in the hospital when it was bombed survived with their new-born daughters.
