This past weekend was glamorized by the Soweto derby action that saw Kaizer Chiefs getting the better of Orlando Pirates.
However, moments prior to the match, the football supporters peacefully protested as they looked to sway PSL into allowing fans back to stadiums.

Led by the South African Football Supporters Association (SAFSA) CEO Siyabulela Makunga, fans were able to have their word heard by PSL and SAFA.
“The message was clear for all to see in the media. Our constituency being the supporters demanded that we stop at the gate at Orlando stadium on Saturday,” Siyabulela told FiND-iT News.
“That was not the plan as we still had to take the memorandum to the PSL as arranged at our earlier meeting with them during the week.
“The meeting was a result of the letter sent to the PSL/SAFA and Department of Sports. The PSL invited us to engage with the chairman Dr Irvin Khoza and the acting CEO Mato Madlala.

With the Covid-19 pandemic being the main ground for closed doors, it’s clear that PSL are still concerned about the opening of stadiums.
“They presented their view on the opening of stadiums which ironically is similar to our plight to have stadiums open.
“SAFA has received our letter notifying them about the march, but no engagement beyond that has happened,” Siyabulela added.
