SA Music Award Nominated hip-hop artist Boitumelo Athiel Mooi, better known as DJ Dimplez, has passed away. The family confirmed that the musician passed away on Sunday from a brain haemorrhage.
The family of the deceased DJ said in a statement on social media, “It is with deep sadness that the Mooi family announces the untimely passing of Boitumelo Athiel Mooi, popularly known as DJ Dimplez. He passed away on 6 March 2022 from a sudden brain haemorrhage”.
His passing comes two weeks after the passing of Ricky Rick. The family concluded by asking the public to respect their space and give them time to mourn privately for now. DJ Dimplez’s peers and friends did not waste any time to express their sadness at the passing of another popular artist on social media.

Among some of the great songs DJ Dimplez will be remembered for are We aint leaving featuring Anatii and L-Tido and Way Up featuring Casper Nyovest and JR. The deceased DJ was true to himself. He played hip hop music with passion at festivals, clubs, making his way up the music charts. While some artists have been trying to keep up with the times by moving to other genres, DJ Dimplez stuck to hip hop until the end.
The last Instagram post by DJ Dimplez is a photo of him at the memorial service of Ricky Rick. The passing of Ricky Rick was announced a few weeks ago after he allegedly committed suicide. He left behind his wife and two kids.
