Isaac Madondo, KwaZulu-Natal high court Judge has ordered that the coronation of Prince Misuzulu KaZwelithini should go ahead. This comes after Madondo dismissed three applications which were brought forward by the Queen Winifred Dlamini Zulu Duma, the first wife of the late King Goodwill Zwelithini and her two daughters, princess Ntandoyenkosi Zulu and princess Ntombizosuthu Zulu Duma.
Queen Winifred approached the court asking for 50% of all the possessions which were owned by the late King Goodwill. She claimed to be the only legitimate wife of the late King as they were married in community of property. Her two daughters questioned the signature which was on the will asking for experts to check whether it is legitimate or not.
When handing down the ruling, the judge made it clear that there was no contest of whether Prince Misuzulu should be crowned King and ordered that the coronation should go ahead. Judge Madondo dismissed Queen Winifred’s claim with costs, saying that all the wives of the late king are legally married and deserve a fair share in his possessions.
On the matter of the signature the judge said the two experts who were called to check the signature had contradicting findings and for that reason he granted suspension of the late king’s will, pending a trial where the signature will be proven to be valid or not.
On the matter of Prince Mboniso application, the Judge dismissed the application saying that he failed to prove how he would be negatively affected if Prince Misuzulu was appointed as King. He further explained that Prince Mboniso was not present at the AmaZulu royal family meeting which was chaired by Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi where the name of Price Misuzulu was nominated as the next Zulu King.
