Tik and Mandrax syndicate nabbed

NORTHERN CAPE. – A multi-disciplinary driven operation led by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, Public Order Policing, Crime Intelligence, Border Policing and Crime Prevention unit, resulted in the arrest of a syndicate of ten aged between 24 and 58 years for alleged illegal dealing in drugs.

The suspects were arrested earlier today at different locations in Upington during termination of a project driven investigation aimed at addressing drugs and drug trafficking in ZF Mgawu cluster.

Tik and Mandrax tablets valued at approximately R210 000 were purchased from the suspects by agents.

During the arrests, the following assets were confiscated – two vehicles, 16 cellphones with a combined value of R420 000, cash to the value of R11 700. The total value of disruptive confistications amounts to approximately 5 million rand since the project was registered during February 2019.

All suspects are detained at Upington police cells awaiting their first court appearance on Monday 28 February 2022.
