Despite committing to SANZAAR (South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, and Argentina) for a further three years, the Springboks might switch to Six Nations and negotiations is still ongoing.
South Africa’s rugby teams are already competing in the United Rugby Championship, which encourages Springboks to switch to Europe too.
The rumours suggest that Six Nations isn’t planning to expand the tournament but Springboks are reportedly going to be the replacement of Italy.
Moreover, last year the Six Nations received a lump sum investment as the private-equity company CVC Capital bought massive stake in the northern-hemisphere competition. This is one of the main reasons behind Springboks’ desire to join the tournament.
