The Springboks will be continuing to compete in the Rugby Championship after committing to SANZAAR (South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Argentina) until 2025.
SANZAAR confirmed this on Wednesday despite rumours that flew suggesting that SA Rugby were going to join the Six Nations.
The organization chairman expressed their excitement for having all members committing for a further three years.
“The pandemic has created a very unusual sporting environment over the last two years with matches and commercial delivery severely affected,” Rodriguez said in a statement.
“This has seen the member unions work very hard to keep rugby alive and present during Covid and at times this has not been easy.
“Indeed there has been much speculation about the future, but it is now great that all members have committed through until the end of 2025 at least.
“This means we can concentrate on ensuring the Rugby Championship remain one of the best rugby tournaments on the world calender.”
