Former footballer Charles Yohane hijacked and killed

Charles Yohane, the former Zimbabwe and Bidvest Wits player, was reportedly shot to death by suspects over the past weekend after his car was hijacked.


The lifeless body of Yohane, who was 48 years old, was dumped in Soweto before it was found on Monday.


The Zimbabwean journalist, Steve Vickers, confirmed the news on Twitter, “Tragic news that former Zimbabwe, CAPS and Wits left-back Charles Yohane has been hijacked and killed in South Africa at the age of 48.”

He was in the Warriors squad for 2004 AFCON. He was also coaching the Wits developmental side in SA.”


Yohane also worked as a coach at Wits development teams after he retired as a footballer.


He also played for AmaZulu before joining Wits and ended his career in lower divisions with FC AK.


He had 23 appearances for the Zimbabwean national team and only tapped the net once.
