The Northern Cape Department of Education is awaiting a report on the situation at St. Boniface High School today.
Videos of pupils believed to be possessed by demons were circulated on social media. The school closed early today. “At this stage it is still unclear what exactly happened and we call on the general public to remain calm and not spread any false rumours about the situation,” said Geoffrey van der Merwe, spokesperson for the department.
“All we know is that the school sent out a message to parents indicating that learners collapsed / fell at the school today. The department is trying to determine exactly what happened or occurred at this school today, and will issue a statement on this matter on Monday, 14 February 2022. ”
