17-year-old boy found after he disappeared in Orange River

The 17-year-old Van Reenen Olivier who disappeared in the Orange River on Tuesday was found 30 km further on Friday morning.

Captain Nelis Prins, police spokesperson, confirmed the news.

“The SAPS can confirm that the body of Van Reenen Olivier, who disappeared in the Orange River on Tuesday afternoon, has been found.”

Capt. Prins says Van Reenen’s body was identified at 10:20.

Van Reenen was swimming with a friend in the Orange River when she turned around and he suddenly disappeared.

The police’s search and rescue team, members of the community and farmers in the area have been searching for him non-stop since his disappearance. Read the previous article here.
