Emeritus Archbishop Desmond Tutu died in Cape Town at the age of 90.
President Cyril Ramaphosa expressed his sadness over his passing and said Tutu was patriotic.
Tutu, a Nobel laureate, suffered from prostate cancer. Tutu was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 for his role as a unifying leader in the campaign to end apartheid.
