Surprise Ralani is expected to become a Mamelodi Sundowns player when the transfer window opens next month.
The 34-year-old winger joined Cape Town City FC in 2018 from Swedish outfit Helsingborg.
He made over 100 appearances for the Citizens, scoring 16 goals and assisting a further 26.
The Cape Town City attacker is understood to have agreed terms with the reigning DStv Premiership champions with a fee paid to the Mother City outfit for the move to go through.
Despite age being against him, reports suggest that Ralani will play a crucial role in Mamelodi Sundowns.
Ralani will reportedly offer Mamelodi Sundowns an added advantage with his experience in the second half of the campaign.
Sundowns are now firm favourites to clinch the league title for the fifth consecutive season.
“Yes, this deal has been kept under wraps for a while. But Surprise Ralani is joining Mamelodi Sundowns in January and City is already looking for a replacement to cover them when the window opens,” said a source at City privy about the details of the transfer.
Ralani, a product of Farouk Khan’s famed Stars of Africa Academy, played in Sweden and Denmark from 2009 until 2018 when he joined City.
He carries invaluable experience in his arsenal.
However, despite invaluable experience, his age might be a disadvantage. This comes after Mamelodi Sundowns appeared to offload their old guard like captain Hlompho Kekana, Wayne Arendse, Tiyani Mabunda, Anthony Laffor and Tebogo Langerman.
Mamelodi Sundowns are reportedly set to welcome Ralani in January 2022 after his signing to Downs has been completed.
