Gauteng police are searching for gunmen who shot and killed a police officer in Katherine Street, Johannesburg, on Thursday.
Sers. David Tsedu was driving when he was shot and by the gunmen. The suspects allegedly robbed the member of his service pistol and other items before fleeing the scene in a getaway vehicle.
Tsedu was taken to a nearby hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries on arrival.
National Police Commissioner Khehla Sitole said the incident was the central focus of the police investigation.
“We will not rest until those behind this brutal attack have been apprehended.”
Police are appealing to motorists and other eyewitnesses to come forward and assist investigations by calling the Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
