Ethan Crumbley, 15, a teenage boy, is in custody after he allegedly shot dead four people at Oxford High School near Detroit on Tuesday.
According to Sky News, Crumbley’s parents met with school staff only hours before the incident after a teacher found a drawing of a gun and a person bleeding.
Investigators told Sky News the gun used in the incident was bought by Crumbley’s father last week and was freely available to the teenager.
Crumbley allegedly posted photos of the gun used in the shooting on social media. His mother later made a post saying they were testing his new Christmas present.
Crumbley open fire in corridor
Crumbley allegedly came out of a toilet on Tuesday and opened fire in a corridor at the school. Seven pupils and a teacher were shot before he surrendered.
Three of the pupils died on Tuesday and the fourth died on Wednesday.
The school was closed after the attack, with children hiding in closed classrooms while officers searched the premises.
When he heard about the shooting, Crumbley’s father drove home to look for the gun and found it missing. He then called the authorities to say he suspected his son was responsible.
Crumbley was charged as an adult with murder, attempted murder and terrorism.
Both Crumbley’s parents are now charged with involuntary manslaughter.
