Covid-19 is still considered a pandemic. However, it has become part of our everyday life and the new norm for survival. Yet “the new normal” is not easily established, and various issues flame up with every new day. The emotional needs are neglected while everyone is just surviving and keeping their heads above water physically. There are four happy hormones in the brain which need to be watered daily:

Endorphins primarily help one deal with stress and reduce feelings of pain, serotonin stabilizes the mood by providing feelings of happiness, dopamine plays a motivational role in the brain’s reward system, and finally,
oxytocin is the love hormone.

Here are a few suggestions to water these happy hormones.

Endorphins
Do some exercises with a twist. Make sure that the company kept is positive and makes you laugh. Exercise and laughter are the best combinations to make your stress levels disappear.

Serotonin
Sun exposure is your best option, and do running or walking exercises in nature. Reflect on the beauty of nature and appreciate the beauty that nature provides.

Dopamine
Make a dish you saw on a cooking show and enjoy the results of your cooking. Don’t hold back, and keep on challenging yourself. If you are not interested in cooking, do some handicraft or artwork, or fix something that has been broken and bothering you for a long time.

Oxytocin
The love hormone can make you feel incredibly lonely. However, there are many ways to beat this. Play with your dogs or your children, give compliments to your loved ones and hug yourself and your family.
