The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a warning that South Africa could expect another intense cold front by Thursday.

According to senior forecaster, Jacqueline Modika, the intense cold front is likely to produce snowfalls over the Western Cape high lying areas and the Western and Southern high lying areas of the Northern Cape.

The snowfall is expected to spread to the Eastern Cape high lying areas and the Drakensberg.

No warnings have been issued yet.

Modika added that the snowfall rumours for Pretoria and Johannesburg were dismissed by the South African Weather Service on Sunday.

Farmers and the public are being urged to take care of their pets and livestock inside in cold weather.
