Want to display all the amazing things that inspire you, but not sure where to start? Our guide will have you creating a vision board in no time.
ALL ABOUT YOU
TRY
If you’ve never attempted a vision board before, this is definitely a good place to start, especially if crafts isn’t naturally your thing.
This kind of art is a representation of who you are and what you love, which means there are no rules! It’s all down to how you feel and what appeals to you.
As humans, we are a seriously weird and wonderful bunch, so you’ll probably end up with an eclectic board of random things.
And that’s the point! Yep, it’s a cool way of discovering the quirks that make you special, in a sacred, judgement-free space.
Start by going through magazines (like DOLLY!) and pull out pictures, posters and words that grab your attention.
Search online and through photos, invitations, tickets, programs from past events, birthday cards, letters or even swing tags from favourite clothes you’ve bought.
Lay everything out on a large space, like your bed or floor, and start pinning each piece to a large corkboard. You’ll naturally add the things you like most first, and you might be left with some you don’t want to use.
Vision boards are a seriously amazing way to visualise your dreams and what you want out of life. It could be related to your family, girl squad, the career you want, the places you dream of visiting – anything!
Whatever you want to do, no matter how big or small, charting it and having it on a beautiful display will motivate you every day to achieve your goals.
Hanging it above your bed or study space will make it a cute addition to the decor of your bedroom. Bonus!
You’ll need to be specific when looking for things that directly relate to your dream, for our travelling theme, we looked on . Pinterest and used postcards and photos from past trips.
A pin board isn’t your only option, either – we used a world map poster!
You can also use wrapping paper that suits your own theme or even a piece of fabric (then fasten the pics with fabric glue).
FASHION INSPO
TRY
If you consider yourself a fashionista, chances are you already have a Pinterest board and a stack of pics you’ve cut out from magazines that reflect your own killer style.
Rather than being tucked away in a folder, display them on your wall above your dressing table or on your wardrobe doors. This way, you can look to them for inspo when deciding what to wear to parties, dates or even mufti days.
Go rogue with this! Stick them straight up with wall dots — you don’t need to follow a specific pattern. Just start in the middle and piece them together like a puzzle.
Don’t worry about the overall shape of the finished product, just let it naturally take its form until you’re happy with how it looks. After all, it’s about exploring your own personal style and creativity!
SO MANY BABES, SO LITTLE SPACE…
Building a wall dedicated to our ultimate celeb crushes is a favourite pastime of the peeps here at DOLLY HQ. Cos really, who doesn’t love to stare at a big shrine of boy band babes and ace actors every morning?
The best part is, every time a cute new guy comes on the radar, you can add him to your wall – without the others getting jealous.
TRY. This one’s easy-as. We give you hotties every month in DOLLY, so simply pull out the posters of your faves and cut out any smaller pics – a crush board looks more interesting when you have a mix of sizes.
We also printed out some kiss lips and hearts (just from Google Images) and stuck them to the wall with washi tape. Washi tape is awesome stuff; it won’t mark your walls or tear your pics.
