UPINGTON – Die polisie op Upington het op Maandag 31 Augustus 2020 die vrouemaand met vroue van Leseding afgesluit.
Die sessie was daarop gemik om na vroue uit te reik en om bewustheid oor geslagsgebaseerde geweld te verhoog. Die vroue is ingelig oor die prosedures om aansoek te doen vir ’n beskermingsbevel en die maatreëls wat hulle kan tref om die kans op mishandeling te verminder.

The SAPS in Upington together with the CPF, Women Against Crime and Youth Against Crime concluded women’s month with women of Leseding on Monday, 31 August 2020.
Employee Health and Wellness, Chaplain Van Wyk opened the program with a sermon and was followed by a word of encouragement delivered by the Social Crime-Prevention Coordinator.
The session was aimed at reaching out to women and raising awareness on gender-based violence. The women were sensitised on the procedures of how to apply for protection order and measures they can take to reduce chances of abuse. The presence of the women was acknowledged by the Station Commander of Upington Brigadier Sampie Koopman and they were given soup in a jug as a token of appreciation.
