KIMBERLEY – Polisielede het op 4 Mei 2020 inligting ontvang van ’n winkel in Georgestraat wat na bewering onwettig sigarette verkoop. Sigarette tot die waarde van R11 500.00 en tabak tot die waarde van R4 000.00 is gekonfiskeer.

Efforts to enforce the Regulations of level 4 of the lockdown continues unabated as members continue with crime prevention duties in the greater Kimberley area under the command of Brig Nicky Mills and Brig Bossie Jacobs.
On 04 May 2020, constables Gwen Paulsen and Conrad Ryland attached to the Provincial Investigation unit followed up on information which led them to a shop in George street in Kimberley.
The members discovered cigarettes to the value of R11 500-00 and hookah tobacco worth R4000-00 that was allegedly being sold by the 38 year old foreign national.
The 38 year old male suspect was arrested and charged with Contravention of the Disaster Management Act Regulations for selling cigarettes during the lockdown period and the cigarettes seized. The suspect will soon appear in the Kimberley Magistrates court.
Brig Mills stated that the police will continue relentlessly to enforce the Regulations of the Disaster Management Act and ensure compliance during the lockdown period.
