SUSPECTS ARRESTED FOR BEING IN POSSESSION OF ABALONE
NORTHERN CAPE – Two suspects aged 15 and 36 years old are set to appear before Springbok Magistrate Court today on charges of being in possession of Abalone and contravention of Disaster Management Act Regulation.
It is alleged that on Wednesday 8 April 2020, members of the Port Nolloth SAPS were busy patrolling at the beach side when they noticed a vehicle parked near the abalone farm and two male suspects were walking around suspiciously. Members acted swiftly on the vehicle and a thorough search uncovered a bag of wet abalone with an estimated street value of R6 000.00 and both suspects were immediately arrested.
The case was handed over to the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Springbok for further investigations. The 15 year old suspect was released in custody of the parents with the help of a probation officer.
