WASTE MANAGEMENT SUMMIT TO BE HELD IN KIMBERLEY.
The MEC for Agriculture, Land Reform, Rural Development, Environment and Nature Conservation, Ms Nomandla Bloem, invites member of the media to the Waste Management Summit, to be held as follows:

Venue: Ausi Meisie’s Lodge, Kimberley

The MEC will deliver a keynote address, and together with stakeholders, sign a declaration on Friday, 13 March 2020.
Held under the theme; “Promoting compliance to waste legislation”, the objectives of the two-day Waste Summit are among others, to bring decision makers under one roof, to discuss the poor state of waste management in the Province.
The summit will also seek to strengthen the capacity of local government (municipalities) and to address waste management in their respective areas of responsibilities in the Province.
The summit is in response to the call made by the president at the launch of the Khauwuleza District Coordination Model when he said “The new district coordination model – with Khawuleza (hurry up) as its call to action- aims to improve coherence and impact of government service delivery in the 44 Districts and eight Metros around the country.”
The Waste Summit is expected to be attended by Mayors, Municipal Managers, Community Services/Infrastructure Directors, Portfolio Committee Members, the South African Local Government Associations and Environmental Health Managers.
