While Hector Mkansi and Nonhlanhla Soldaats’s KFC proposal and love story became a hit and was one of the best stories to come out of the internet, The McDonald proposal was the opposite of that and went horribly wrong.
South African’s were left in stitches when a man who tried to be romantic by kneeling down on the floor and proposing to his partner at a busy McDonald’s in Sandton mall was turned down by his partner and was left hanging as she walked out on him. The video was captured and posted by Twitter user Madame_Fossette and went viral.
In the video, the man’s partner is in front of the queue at the fast-food outlet and people can be seen cheering as the man held out a little grey box which is assumed to be an engagement ring. The woman who seemed very annoyed and disappointed shook her head and walked out on the man leaving him with a few words. The proposal went horribly wrong.
The poor man who looked embarrassed got up and followed the angry woman with cameras following them around. The post went viral with people trying to give reasons why the proposal was unsuccessful. Here are some of the comments:
@qhasi2 said: “I think the main issue here is the venue. Like you’re proposing to me at a packed McDonald’s because?
@mizzzidc said: “Jada was right, men do these big public stunts for the ridiculous display of their ego. Why at the mall while shopping? Or maybe it’s a token of a sorry for the worst treatment behind doors. I’m on her side.
