Picture of murder weapon used in Senzo Meyiw’s murder captioned “My killing machine” found in one of the suspects cellphones

A picture of the gun captioned ‘my killing machine’ which was allegedly used in the killing of Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa, was found on one of the accused’s cellphones. The five men accused of the murder of Meyiwa pled not guilty at the Pretoria High Court on Friday 22 April.

On Friday the trial got underway almost eight years after the former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper was shot and killed at his girlfriend Kelly Khumalo’s house in Vosloorus, east of Johannesburg. Muzikawukhulelwa S’Tembu Sibiya, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Ziphozonke Maphisa, and Fisokuhle Ntuli pled not guilty to charges of murder, attempted murder, robbery and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

According to SABC News, the state told the court that accused number three Mthobisi Mncube’s phone was confiscated at the time of his arrest. Information in his phone was downloaded and analyzed. A photo of the murder weapon which was used in the killing of Senzo Meyiwa was found in his phone with the caption “My killing machine”.

Prosecutor George Baloyi laid out the states version of the events which led to Meyiwa’s death. He said the state will call forensic and ballistic experts to testify that the spent bullet found on the scene matches matched the firearm that was found where Mncube was renting with his girlfriend in Melvin.

“The cellphone of the accused was confiscated on his arrest, and then the data on his phone was downloaded and various photos were found, inter alia a photo depicting with the caption “My killing machine,” said Baloyi.
