“It is alleged that the suspect, who is now deceased, took his two daughters and indicated that he was going to kill them.  The police were called and along the way they (the police) were stopped by the community members, walking with the bloodied surviving 7-year-old child,” said Mojapelo.

“The child took them to the spot where the incident happened and on arrival, police found the 2-year-old child already dead from apparent strangulation and the father hanging from a tree.”

It was revealed that the two children were living with their father while their mother lived in Gauteng. Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, has urged people who are having relationship problems to seek help and not resort to violence.

“Police have opened cases of murder, attempted murder and inquest and investigations are continuing,” said Mojapelo.
